Real Estate Agents Act 2008

The Real Estate Agents Act 2008 established the Real Estate Agents Authority and its regulatory framework.

​The purpose of the Act is to promote and protect the interests of consumers and promote public confidence in the performance of real estate agency work.


The Act provides for regulations to be issued with more detailed rules. The following regulations have been issued and can be read online:


The Authority prosecutes people who commit an offence under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008.  These offences include unlicensed trading, misleading the Authority during an investigation or employing an unlicensed person to undertake real estate agency work.
